Matt Fockler is an associate professor of geography and member of the environmental studies faculty at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He is a historical geographer whose research explores the human and ecological dimensions of public land management. His past research explored irrigation and place-making in Northern Nevada, the historical geographic evolution of national forest landscapes in Northern Montana, and the historical geographic evolution of college campuses. He is currently the president of the Historical Geography Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers.
